In order to help Latvian pre-school children to learn more about the environmental issues, LWEA has launched a Latvian translation of the book “Let the wind blow”. It’s downloadable on www.letthewindblow.org. At the end of August, Latvian Wind Energy Association printed and delivered around 700 copies of this book to pre-school educational institutions in entire Latvia.

Inspired by a conversation between two mums (a Polish wind advocate and a British journalist) and a talented young Iranian artist, this comic book tells the story of how renewable energies like wind will help lead the transformation to a cleaner, healthier world for everyone. The book invites children to familiarize themselves with the electricity production technologies that are environmentally friendly. The book has been translated into 16 languages so far and is currently also available in Latvian.

“It is wonderful that children’s book authors are increasingly creating content on environmentally important topics. This is a brilliant example of how to communicate about seemingly complex topics for most of society in an interesting and clear manner. The decision to bind books in a tangible way and donate them to Latvian pre-school educational institutions was only natural. The books have been sent to 22 Latvian municipal education boards, which will deliver them to more than 500 municipal kindergartens. We will be pleased if the information included in the book will help to improve the pre-school children’s understanding of the use of renewable natural resources and provide knowledge that will also be useful in the further educational process,” tells the Board member and the Head of the association Andris Vanags.

Together with the book, LWEA also launched a short video on the basics of wind energy. Check it out!
